The maximum penalty for someone convicted of a first offense DWI is sixty days in jail, $500 fine, and 8 points on your license.

There are enhanced penalties for subsequent offenders.

A person charged with a DUI/DWI offense offense may also have to deal with the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA). The MVA can suspend or revoke your license, issue you a restricted license to drive for work purposes or to attend a substance abuse program, or require that you have the Ignition Interlock device installed in your vehicle.
